Endowment Fund Rules

Rules as of December 1, 2005:

  1. The SLD Endowment Fund Committee will receive the interest and dividend income from the previous year earnings about mid February each year
  2. Application for the funding of projects may be made by any Seneca Land District chorus, quartet, group or individual member
  3. Requests may be for funding any project consistent with what we do as barbershoppers.
  4. Application forms may be obtained from the Smoke Signals, on the district web site (www.senecaland.org) or from the Seneca Land District Endowment Fund Committee.
  5. Applications call for an accurate and informative description of the project; a current 12 month working budget of the quartet or chorus (chapter) or group; an accurate estimate of project costs and as much information as is necessary to properly evaluate the project and request.
  6. Applications for the current year must be submitted to the SLD Endowment fund Committee by March 15 in order to be considered for funding during that calendar year.
  7. Funding may be requested for future projects, current projects or completed projects that have been completed within the past 90 days.
  8. Upon completion of an Endowment Fund supported project, documentation showing that the money was actually spent on the project (copies of receipts, cancelled checks, etc.) should be submitted to the SLD Endowment Fund Committee so that the file on the project can be closed.
  9. Any grant money not spent on the project should be returned to the SLD Endowment Fund Committee to be added back in to the available funds held by the committee.
  10. A brief report on the success of a completed project would be helpful in evaluating the merits of future projects and to close the project file.
  11. .The SLD Endowment Fund Committee will attempt to allocate the available funds as follows: Committee expenses, such as postage, checks, etc., will be taken from the discretionary portion. A small amount of money will be held in the checking account to keep the account open from year to year.
  12. Decisions of the committee are final and not open to appeal.
  13. All requests will be considered and answered with either funding or declination.
  14. It is expected that any individual or group requesting funding will have taken advantage of the .free. and available assistance such as Pow-Wow coaching or other district or society help where appropriate.
  15. SLD Endowment Fund Committee members may not be involved in the application process for funding of projects . either directly or indirectly other than to advise the applicants of the mechanics of the application process.
