High School A Cappella Contest

A Cappella Singing Competition for Students

This is a free event (Travel costs for singers, teachers and guests not included).

Who:

All High School (Grades 7-12) singing groups (3-12 members)

When:

Saturday April 30th 2005. 1:00 PM

Where:

Harmony House 58 East Main St. / Webster NY 14580 (directions)

What:

Each a cappella group sings two songs in any singing style

Teachers may call Chuck Martello at 585-424-4652 or <sing4part[at]frontiernet[dot]net> to request a registration form and obtain details.

Included:

• Evaluation of each group. (Vocal Production & Stage Presence)
• Prizes and awards.**
  • Cash awards to the top three competing schools to enhance vocal music programs: 1st $200; 2nd $150; 3rd $100.
  • Trophies for each member of the top three competing singing groups.
  • Certificates and ribbons for all singers.
  • Teacher Packets containing music arrangements, demo CD's and insructional materials.
  • Other prizes: TBA
• Free pizza party for singers, teachers and family members.
• Interaction with other high school students and teachers.
• Entertainment.
• Spontaneous singing.

This free event is being sponsored by the Seneca Land District of the Barbershop Harmony Society (SPEBSQSA, Inc.) as part of a youth outreach program which promotes singing as a "Hobby for Life." The Chorus of the Genesee, part of the Rochester, New York Chapter, is hosting the competition at its rehearsal hall in Webster, New York. Pease Note: The Seneca Land District and the Barbershop Harmony Society and its member choruses are not responsible for the safety of the participants and guests traveling to and from this event. It is assumed that teachers will have obtained parent/guardian permission to take part in this event for all students who participate.
